Business website design in South Africa is no longer optional for a business that wants to win clients, tenders or funding. Buyers, tender committees and lenders check your website and your online presence before they ever speak to you, and a business with no site, an outdated one, or no company profile at all is quietly ruled out before the conversation starts.
Insika is a digital business support provider. We design and build websites, e-commerce stores, company profiles, logos and brand identities, and we set up the CRM, social media, SEO and AI automation that keep a business running once the site is live. This is Insika's own service, delivered by our team, not outsourced to a freelancer you never speak to.
This page sets out what each service covers, what it costs, how the process works, what we need from you to start, and how POPIA affects any site that collects customer information.
Why a professional online presence matters
A website is often the first and only impression a prospective client, funder or tender evaluator forms of your business. Before a phone call is returned or a proposal is opened, most buyers search the business name, look for a website, and check whether the business looks established and credible. A missing or dated site raises doubt at exactly the moment you need trust.
- Winning clients. A clear website with real information about what you do, who you serve and how to contact you converts curiosity into enquiries.
- Winning tenders. Public and private tenders increasingly ask for a company profile, a website address and proof of an active digital presence as part of supplier vetting.
- Winning funding. Funders and banks look for a professional online footprint as a basic sign that a business is organised and serious.
- Competing on equal footing. A well-built website lets a small or medium business look as credible as a much larger competitor, at a fraction of the cost of traditional marketing.
None of this requires a large budget. It requires the site, the profile and the systems to be built properly, kept current, and matched to what your specific business actually needs.
Website development in South Africa
A brochure website is the standard starting point for most businesses: a home page, an about page, services or products, a contact page with a working enquiry form, and enough content to explain what you do and who you serve. Insika designs and builds these on modern, fast-loading platforms suited to the size and budget of the business, from a simple five-page site to a larger multi-service site with blog and location pages.
Every site we build is mobile-first, since most South African visitors browse on a phone, and every site includes basic on-page SEO from day one so it has a chance to be found on Google rather than sitting unseen. If you have not yet registered your company, our company registration service can be handled alongside your website build so the two are ready together.
E-commerce websites
If you sell products or bookable services online, you need an e-commerce website: a product catalogue, a shopping cart, secure payment processing (typically through a South African payment gateway such as PayFast, Yoco or PayGate), order management and stock tracking. E-commerce builds are more involved than a brochure site because they carry ongoing transactions, customer accounts and payment security.
Insika builds e-commerce stores ranging from a small catalogue of a few dozen products to larger stores with hundreds of items, variants, coupons and delivery calculations. We also set up the payment gateway integration and test the full checkout flow before launch, so the store works correctly from the first live sale.
Company profiles for tenders and funding
A company profile is a short, professional document, usually a PDF, that summarises who your business is, what it does, your track record, your team, your B-BBEE status and your contact details. It is frequently a required attachment for government and corporate tenders, for funding applications, and for onboarding as a new supplier.
Insika designs company profiles that read well and look credible: clean layout, your branding, a clear services or products section, and the supporting detail evaluators look for. If you are applying for funding, a company profile is usually paired with a business plan and financial model, and if you are just starting out, our startup services can help pull the founding documents together at the same time.
Logo and brand identity
A logo and a consistent brand identity, meaning your colours, fonts, and how your name and mark appear across your website, documents and social media, is what makes a business look established rather than improvised. Insika designs logos and basic brand guidelines so that your website, company profile, invoices and social pages all look like they belong to the same business.
For a business that already has a logo but no consistent look across its materials, we can also standardise the existing identity rather than starting from a blank page.
CRM development
A customer relationship management (CRM) system is where a business keeps track of leads, clients, quotes, follow-ups and sales history in one place, rather than scattered across email, spreadsheets and WhatsApp. As a business grows past a handful of clients, an ad hoc system starts costing sales through missed follow-ups and lost information.
- Off-the-shelf CRM setup - configuring an existing platform (such as HubSpot, Zoho or a similar tool) to match your sales process, pipeline stages and reporting.
- Custom CRM development - a system built specifically around how your business actually works, when an off-the-shelf tool does not fit or costs more in subscriptions than a purpose-built system over time.
Insika scopes the CRM to the size of the business and the complexity of the sales process, so a small business is not paying for enterprise features it will never use.
Social media management
Social media is where most South African buyers first encounter a small or medium business, often before they ever reach the website. Consistent posting, responding to comments and messages, and running the right platforms for your audience take ongoing time that most business owners do not have alongside running the business itself.
Insika's social media management covers content planning, post design, scheduling and posting, and basic community management (replying to comments and messages) across the platforms that suit your business, typically Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn or TikTok. We report on what is working so the spend keeps paying for itself.
SEO services in South Africa
Search engine optimisation (SEO) is the work of making your website show up when a potential client searches for what you offer on Google. A website with no SEO work behind it can sit online for years without ever generating an enquiry, because it is simply invisible in search results for the terms your customers actually use.
Insika's SEO services cover on-page optimisation (page titles, headings, content and internal links), technical SEO (site speed, mobile usability, structured data), local SEO (Google Business Profile, for businesses that serve a specific city or region), and ongoing content to target the search terms your customers use. SEO is a medium-term investment, results build over months rather than days, but it is one of the few marketing channels that keeps generating enquiries without an ongoing ad spend.
AI business automation and digital transformation
AI business automation uses tools such as chatbots, automated email and WhatsApp responses, document processing and workflow automation to handle repetitive work that currently takes staff time: answering the same questions, capturing leads outside office hours, generating quotes, or routing enquiries to the right person.
Digital transformation is the broader project of moving a business's paper-based or manual processes onto digital systems, connecting the website, CRM, invoicing and communication tools so information flows between them instead of being re-typed at every step. Insika scopes AI automation and digital transformation projects around a specific, measurable outcome, for example cutting response time to new enquiries, or removing a manual data-capture step, rather than adding technology for its own sake.
Website hosting and maintenance
A website needs hosting (the server it runs on), a domain name, security updates, backups and occasional content changes after launch. Many businesses build a site once and then let it go stale, with outdated information, broken forms or security vulnerabilities that go unnoticed until something breaks or the site is compromised.
A South African business should generally register a local .co.za domain, since .za domains are administered by the .za Domain Name Authority (ZADNA) and are widely recognised by South African customers as a local, trustworthy address. Insika registers and manages domains through a ZADNA-accredited registrar, and our hosting and maintenance plans keep your site online, backed up, updated and monitored, with small content changes handled without you needing a developer on call.
Indicative cost of Insika digital services
The figures below are indicative Insika professional fees, not government or third-party fees. Actual cost depends on the size, complexity and features of the project, and is always confirmed on a written quote before work starts. Domain registration and any third-party subscription costs (payment gateway fees, CRM platform licences, advertising spend) are separate from these fees.

How the process works
Insika runs every digital project through the same five stages, so you know what to expect and when.
- Discovery
We discuss what you need, who your customers are, what your competitors look like online, and what success looks like for the project. This sets the scope and the quote.
- Design
We design the look and layout, whether that is a website wireframe, a logo concept, or a CRM pipeline structure, and get your sign-off before any building starts.
- Build
We build the approved design: the website, store, CRM or automation, using your content and branding. You see progress and can request changes along the way.
- Launch
We test the finished work (forms, checkout, links, mobile view), connect the domain and hosting, and go live. For CRM and automation projects, this includes training your team to use the new system.
- Support
After launch we remain available for hosting, maintenance, updates and ongoing services such as SEO or social media management, so the work keeps paying off rather than going stale.
What Insika needs from you to start
The single biggest factor in keeping a digital project on time is having the inputs below ready before the build starts. If you do not have all of them yet, Insika can help produce what is missing (a logo, written content, product photography) as part of the project.
POPIA compliance for your website
If your website collects any personal information from visitors, names, email addresses, phone numbers, or details submitted through a contact form, quote request or online store, your business falls under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and is regulated by the Information Regulator. This applies to almost every business website, since even a basic contact form collects personal information.
At minimum, a compliant business website needs a published privacy policy explaining what personal information is collected and why, a lawful basis for collecting it, and reasonable security measures to protect the data you hold. Insika builds a privacy policy and the basic technical safeguards (secure forms, restricted data access) into every website we develop, and where a business needs a full compliance review, our dedicated POPIA compliance service covers the policies, registrations and processes involved.
